Monoprints

Monoprinting is a technique in which paints or dyes are poured, brushed or dropped onto a plate (typically glass or acrylic). The printing surface is then placed on top of the plate to transfer the design. Usually only one print can be made from the plate, thus the name monoprint. Monoprinting takes on many different forms and was believed to come into use in the 1600's. Lisa learned the monoprint technique using watercolors, then experimented with acrylic paints and dyes on fabrics. She hand-dyes most of her fabric and combines stitching and beading with the printing to create a truly unique work of art.
